If you have been to your PCP and they say your labs are "normal", but you still feel awful, this is because conventional lab testing done is just not enough! After 20+ years of practice, I have noticed that most thyroid patients who come to see me, despite having been to many doctors, are still undertreated, underevaluated and underestimated! Often, providers only run a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) and when its not outside the lab range, they stop investigating further. This standard practice often misses other valuable markers that show you have low thyroid function! In my practice I typically look at not only a TSH, but also Free T3, Free T4, Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies and Anti-thyroglobulin Antibodies, as well as other markers that are often effected by low thyroid. Once I have determined where the dysfunction is, we work to figure out the trigger, which can be infections, environmental toxins, food, heavy metals, your genetics and/or nutrient deficiencies, and I help create strategies to address these now and in the future, so that you can feel and look your best!
